Heritage Reconstruction
The Crown & Anchor Inn historic B&B above Snug Cove, Twofold Bay, is a National Trust listed building.

The philosophy behind the restoration was to preserve the unique character of the Crown & Anchor Inn through heritage reconstruction. Under this approach it is important that the living history of the building is shown. Therefore many 'as found' elements have been retained intentionally during the reconstruction phase to show how the different periods of use and activities were accommodated into the building fabric over 165 years of continual use. Although the major reconstruction work has been completed, repair, maintenance and conservation are ongoing. Guests now have the opportunity to stay in an authentic colonial building and imagine how life might have been.
The above images show the fire place in the old dining room before restoration and the pamphlets printed by Daniel Goldsmith in about 1863 that were found wedged behind the mantel.
