About Us

Crown & Anchor Historic B&B on the South Coast of NSW

We aim to provide our guests with a relaxing, enjoyable and uniquely authentic experience while enjoying stunning views over Twofold Bay.

Many of our visitors are surprised by the natural beauty of Eden, its deserted beaches, the long walks in national parks not seeing another soul and the regions freshly caught seafood. However all of our guests experience something uncommon in Australia - staying in a true heritage building built in the very early years of the colonies.

As a rare example of an 1845 colonial coaching inn constructed with rudimentary skills using mostly local materials and labour, the original owners the Rixons, would most likely be amazed that it is still here after more than 165 years and still providing exceptional accommodation to travellers. The original building is intact, from the hardwood roofing shingles (now covered by an iron roof) and timber flooring, to the locally made bricks, oyster shell plaster, and the cedar doors, skirting boards and architraves.

We love the history of the Crown & Anchor Inn, on Australia's sapphire and wilderness coasts, and we hope you will too.

"What better place for a square rig sailor and shanty man? The echoes of time reverberate within its walls and call one to 'swallow the anchor' and come ashore. Alas the pull of the sea is too strong yet. The whale song drowns the sirens call, but you will return again, one day, if old King Neptune wills it so."
